Air Fryer Apple Hand Pies with Arctic ApBitz® Dried Apples

  • 1 oz. bag Arctic ApBitz® dried apples
  • ½ cup boiling water
  • 2 TB sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon allspice
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 TB salted butter (melted)
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1 Refrigerated Pie Crust


  1. Using a liquid measuring cup, measure ½ cup water and place in microwave for 3.5 minutes. (Make sure liquid measuring cup is microwave safe.)
  2. Remove from microwave and immediately add 1 oz. bag of Arctic ApBitz® snacks. Allow to sit for 90 minutes before moving on to the next step. Ideally, the longer you wait, the more tender the apple mixture will be and the less water there will be in the bowl. If you move on to the next step after only 60 minutes, you might have to drain excess liquid.
  3. Once the apples look plump and hydrated or there is minimal water left in the dish, add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, salt and butter. Mix well and set aside.
  4. Using the refrigerated pie crust, remove from package and unroll on a clean surface. Using a small bowl or glass with a 4” diameter, cut out 8 servings.
  5. Place 1 TB of apple filling on each pie crust. After placing a small amount of water along the edge of the pie crust, fold in half and crimp edges with a fork. Repeat with each and then score each one by cutting small slits on the top of each pie.
  6. In a small bowl, beat 1 egg and then brush the egg wash on the top of each pie. (Do not brush underneath.)
  7. Before placing into air fryer, make sure to spray air fryer basket with canola spray.
  8. Place hand pies into the air fryer making sure to not overcrowd. (3 hand pies easily fit in my air fryer.) Cook for 10 minutes at 350.
