Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups AP Flour (sifted)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp iodized salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) browned butter
  • 1.5 cups brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg + 1 yolk
  • 1 TB vanilla
  • 1 TB Greek yogurt
  • 1.5 cups dark chocolate chips or chocolate of choice
  • flaked sea salt

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
  2. Brown 2 sticks (1 cup) butter by warming a saute pan over medium heat. Add butter (in slices) to evenly melt butter. Stir butter while it's warming. Butter will foam and then crackle and eventually turn from yellow to tan and then golden brown. Once brown flakes start to form in the bottom of the pan, stir and remove from heat. Place butter in a container that is heat safe and set aside until cool.
  3. Using a mixer with a paddle attachment, combine brown butter, sugar and eggs. Cream until nice and blended. Add vanilla and Greek yogurt.
  4. Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until well combined.
  5. Add chocolate chips just until combined.
  6. Chill for 2 hours before baking. After dough has properly chilled, divide dough into 1 oz portions.
  7. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 375 and bake each batch for 10 minutes.
  8. After removing cookies from oven, lightly sprinkle with flaked sea salt. Makes about 3 dozen.
