With summer right around the corner, I thought I would share one of my favorite food trends of all time. In fact, I remember one of the first times I enjoyed infused water. It was a hot summer day and I had just landed in Sacramento. After arriving at my hotel, I was met with a cool glass of infused water with strawberries and cucumbers. It was so simple and refreshing!
Even though infused water is just water with a little fruit tossed in, it’s one of my favorite ways to enjoy drinking water. I’ll admit that I have never really enjoyed the taste of plain water, so I often add a little lemon or lime to help increase my water intake. And bonus, it’s a delicious way to stay hydrated.
I also love to entertain with infused water at dinner parties. It’s a great way to show hospitality to your guests and keep them hydrated at the same time. If you like infused water to be a little sweeter, you can add a little low-calorie sweetener. I will often use 1/4- 1/2 packet of aspartame in my glass as a way to make it sweeter without adding sugar. I’ve learned that by doing this, I can easily save myself additional calories. I believe that aspartame is safe, delicious, and can be really helpful when cutting back on added sugar when used as a sugar substitute.
By drinking more water at a dinner party, I can hydrate myself and also keep myself more satisfied. And instead of filling up on other high calorie beverages (Hello, strawberry margarita) I can treat myself to this and still feel satisfied. And spooning out the fruit at the end feels like such a treat!
Enjoy and stay hydrated this summer!
